Excellent. I would love to know what turbos Holset actually continue to produce. Some older models we have next to no information on and some we have a ton of info.

are those inserts on the compressor inlets?  I would like to know where to get one for a hx55.

They are silencer rings.  The are usually removed.  There is still a gap between the ring and the housing for air to get by.

why would you remove them?  It seems like it would help "straighten" the airflow into the compressor housing.

lets just say.. some people like to hear the turbo spool.. and others find it annoying lol


turbo spool= ring off via snap ring

quiet= leave ring in

It might help funnel air into the main inlet, but makes it more turbulent to get air into the holes in the MWE inlets.

have you used these with and without the ring?  Did you notice any difference in spool time? 

The cummins guys dont seem to notice a difference.  I saved my ring and will try it both ways on my hx40 when i get my car back together.
